What is a Text Editor?

Software allowing creation of text: a computer program that permits the creation and editing of stored text"
Now for a detailed explanation.
A text editor is a type of program used for editing or creating plain text files. A text editor is a simple word processor used to begin learning HTML. On Windows, the simplest text editor is Notepad. On the Mac, it is either SimpleText or TeachText.
Text Editors have taken on the role of being used to create websites from the simple brochure style website to larger community type websites.
WYSIWYG
Most editors include a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) view. This view will let you see just how the completed page will look as it is being written.
A WYSIWYG Editor or the wysiwyg side of a text editor will automatically insert bad code into the html. Some are worse about doing this than others. So it is strongly suggested that you be familiar with working on the HTML/code side of your editor so these bad codes can be corrected or removed.
